We request reference to your e-mail dated 24-04-2017 seeking clarification/ confirmation in respect of the news item ` Massive fire breaks out in Bank of India Building in Mumbai published in the Times of India on April 21, 2017. In this connection, we wish to inform you that on 21st April 2017, at around 4.30 p.m. fire broke out in Bank of India building, M.G. Road, Mumbai. As the building was already equipped with fire fighting equipments, the fire alarm system got activated. All the Bank staff members and customers were evacuated from the building. The fire brigade then swung into action and took the situation under control. There were no casualties, however due to the fire, there were some damages to the furniture and fixtures, interiors and personal computers. Since the Bank has a back up of all the data of the branch, the operations were temporary shifted to a nearby premises on the next day.
