With reference to the new item appearing in leading financial daily titled "Tata Power Gets 25-yr Licence for City". Tata Power Company Ltd has clarify to BSE that Tata Power's Transmission License and Distribution License was earlier issued upto August 15, 2014. As part of the process, Tata Power applied for a License under Section 14 and Section 15 of the Electricity Act, 2003 (the Act) in April 2014. Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) conducted Technical Validation sessions and Public Hearing to gather objections/suggestions. The Hon'ble Commission assessed the application of Tata Power for grant of Distribution Licence on the criterias required as per the 6th proviso of Section 14 of the Act. On August 14, 2014, MERC issued Tata Power's Transmission License and Distribution License for the next 25 years w.e.f. August 16, 2014 and the License area covers from Colaba to Mahim, falling under Mumbai City Revenue district, Bandra to Dahisar and Chunabatti to Vikhroli of Mumbai suburban Revenue District, area of Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation.<br/><br/>The license allows Tata Power to continue serving the Mumbai consumers as before in Distribution and Transmission area. The distribution license is granted with a specific condition to get the network roll out approved by the Regulatory Commission. Tata Power will follow the directions of the Commission as before and grow its network to acquire balanced set of consumers to ensure tariff benefit to low end consumers.
