Air India Gets DGCA Nod for Electronic Logbooks on B787, 777

New Delhi, Jul 13 (PTI) Aviation regulator DGCA has approved the use of electronic technical logbooks for Air India's Boeing 787 and 777 planes, a step that will replace most of the paper-based maintenance records with a digital system.

The Electronic Technical Logbook (ETL) will provide real-time information sharing between maintenance engineers, and operational teams, improving coordination, accelerating defect reporting and rectification, and enhancing aircraft dispatch reliability.


In a release on Monday, Air India said ETL will replace traditional paper-based maintenance records with a secure digital platform, enabling faster, more accurate, and efficient management of aircraft maintenance and engineering activities.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved the use of ETL for the airline's Boeing 787 and 777 fleets, the release said.

Air India has a fleet of around 185 planes, including 35 Boeing 787s and 19 Boeing 777-300 ERs.
