Amaravati, Jun 4 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday said the state could play a key role in contributing to the USD 100 billion bilateral trade target set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin by 2030.
Addressing the India-Russia Business Forum on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the minister highlighted opportunities for deeper economic cooperation between Andhra Pradesh and Russian businesses.
"Andhra Pradesh is a key contributor to the ambitious India-Russia bilateral trade target of USD 100 billion by 2030 set by PM Modi and President Putin," said Lokesh in an official press release.
Calling India-Russia ties a partnership built on trust, the Minister said the cooperation between the two countries had expanded beyond diplomacy into investments, energy partnerships and advanced technology collaboration.
Lokesh noted that Russia had stood with India during key phases of its development journey, citing collaborations ranging from Bhilai and Kudankulam to BrahMos and Gaganyaan.
He observed that the relationship was built on a strong foundation developed over decades.
He pointed to Russian aluminium producer RUSAL's Pioneer Alumina Project and Rosneft-backed Nayara Energy as illustrations of successful industrial collaboration between the two countries.
The Minister said Andhra Pradesh was keen to deepen engagement with Russian industries and leverage emerging opportunities created by evolving global supply chains and investment flows.
He highlighted Andhra Pradesh's infrastructure strengths, including a coastline of more than 1,000 kilometres, six operational ports, industrial land availability, reliable power infrastructure and investor-friendly governance.
According to him, Andhra Pradesh's strength lay not merely in policy formulation but in execution. Large industrial projects were progressing rapidly and the state had built a reputation for speedy implementation of investment commitments under its "Speed of Doing Business" approach.
Inviting Russian businesses to view Andhra Pradesh as a long-term strategic partner, Lokesh said the state was prepared to support investments across a wide range of sectors and contribute to the next phase of India-Russia economic cooperation.
