Ashok Leyland partners with Haryana government to establish an Institute of Driving Training & Research (IDTR) in Ambala, boosting professional driver training & road safety.

New Delhi, Aug 20 (PTI) Hinduja Group flagship firm Ashok Leyland on Thursday said it has partnered with the Haryana government for establishing an Institute of Driving Training & Research (IDTR) at Ambala.
The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Haryana government for establishing the driving institute, making an important step towards strengthening professional driver training, promoting safer roads and developing a future-ready workforce for India's growing transportation and logistics sector, Ashok Leyland said in a statement.
Spread across approximately 13 acres, the institute will be developed through a collaborative effort between the Government of Haryana and Ashok Leyland, it added.
The institute will provide scientific, practical and professional training for drivers of both Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) and Light Motor Vehicles (LMV), with a strong emphasis on road safety, responsible driving and modern vehicle-handling skills, the company said.
"A skilled and responsible driver is at the heart of a safe and efficient transportation ecosystem. At Ashok Leyland, we have consistently invested in professional driver training as a critical pillar of road safety. Our partnership with the Government of Haryana to establish this modern IDTR in Ambala is another significant step in that journey," Ashok Leyland Managing Director & CEO Shenu Agarwal said.
The institute will have a capacity to train around 2,000 new and 20,000 existing drivers annually, featuring digital classrooms, advanced simulators, live engine and transmission demonstrations, medical facilities and hostel accommodation.
