BSES inaugurates a 2,000 kVA smart pad-mounted substation and ''Solarize East'' campaign in east Delhi, boosting power infrastructure & solar adoption under PM Surya Ghar.
New Delhi, Jul 19 (PTI) Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra and Delhi power minister Ashish Sood inaugurated BSES' first-of-its-kind smart pad-mounted substation as well as the 'Solarize East' campaign in east Delhi on Sunday.

The pad-mounted substation in Gandhi Nagar has the capacity to deliver full-scale power in nearly 80 per cent less space. It's an innovative space-saving solution that brings 2,000 kVA capacity to the heart of one of Delhi's most congested markets, said a BSES statement.

'Solarize East', launched under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, will enable consumers to realise the full benefits of the central government scheme and the Delhi Solar Policy by promoting a community-led initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Malhotra stressed that the Delhi government is working diligently to meet the futuristic and ever-growing power demand of the national capital. He further stressed that these two initiatives by BSES are the right steps in this direction.

Delhi Power Minister Sood said, "Every substation we modernise and every rooftop we solarise is a step towards a stronger, greener, and more self-reliant."

Delhi government's Rs 1,427 crore investment in power infrastructure and the successful management of the record peak power demand of 8,748 MW without major outages reaffirmed the government's commitment to delivering reliable, affordable, smart and green power, while making Delhi's electricity network future-ready, he said.
