CM Patel US Visit: Gujarat's Global Hub Vision & Vibrant Summit
Ahmedabad, Aug 17 (PTI) Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday began his week-long visit to the US and Canada, interacting with members of the Gujarati diaspora in San Francisco and highlighting the state's plans to become a global hub for semiconductors, AI, data, and biotechnology.

Patel is leading a high-level delegation to invite global industrialists, investors and technology leaders to participate in the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2027 and invest in Gujarat, according to a release issued by the state government.

Addressing the Gujarati community in San Francisco, Patel said Gujarat had emerged as a growth engine of the country through holistic development and is committed to taking the lead in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 through Viksit Gujarat-2047.

He said the state would focus on new-age sectors such as semiconductors, AI, data centres and biotechnology and expressed confidence that the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2027 would provide a strong platform to advance these objectives.

Patel also invited members of the Gujarati community and industry and business leaders in San Francisco to participate in the summit.

During an interaction with the chief minister, members of the Gujarati diaspora expressed interest in Gujarat's development and evinced interest in learning more about the state's growth across sectors, according to the statement.

Patel appreciated the contributions of Gujaratis in Silicon Valley, particularly in semiconductors, AI technology and innovation.

"The aim is to strengthen technological collaboration by connecting these global talents with industries based in Gujarat," the chief minister said.

He added that the government wanted to build a bridge between global Gujarati talent and companies and industries in his home state to promote knowledge sharing, technological collaboration and mentorship.

Patel said such cooperation would create new global opportunities and help Gujarat contribute more rapidly to the Viksit Bharat-2047 goal.

He also praised the Gujarati diaspora for maintaining its language, festivals, traditions and values despite living thousands of kilometres away from their home state.

Patel said he looked forward to working with the Gujarati community on investment cooperation, knowledge sharing and creating opportunities to strengthen Gujarat's innovation ecosystem.

Chief Secretary M K Das, senior secretaries and other members of the Gujarat delegation, and the Gujarati diaspora attended the interaction.

The state government had earlier announced that Patel would visit the US and Canada from August 17 to 24 to invite investors for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.

The last Vibrant Gujarat summit was held in January 2024, while the 11th edition of the biennial event is scheduled to be held in 2027.
