Crude oil prices surged in futures trade on Tuesday, driven by strong spot demand. WTI and Brent crude also traded higher globally.

New Delhi, Dec 3 (PTI) Crude oil prices on Tuesday climbed Rs 17 to Rs 5,796 per barrel in futures trade as participants increased their positions following a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for December delivery traded higher Rs 17 or 0.29 per cent at Rs 5,796 per barrel in 11,169 lots.

Analysts said the raising of bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in futures trade.

Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude was trading 0.19 per cent higher at USD 68.23 per barrel, while Brent crude was trading 0.26 per cent up at USD 72.02 per barrel in New York.
