Crude oil futures prices climbed on Tuesday, driven by increased demand. WTI and Brent crude also rose in global markets.

New Delhi, Dec 31 (PTI) Crude oil prices on Tuesday climbed Rs 37 to Rs 6,146 per barrel in futures trade as participants increased their positions following a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for January delivery traded higher Rs 37 or 0.61 per cent at Rs 6,146 per barrel in 11,019 lots.

Analysts said the raising of bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in futures trade.

Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude was trading 0.85 per cent higher at USD 71.59 per barrel while Brent crude was trading 0.81 per cent higher at USD 74.59 per barrel in New York.
