Crude Oil Futures Surge on West Asia Conflict

Crude oil futures jump on MCX amid West Asia tensions. May delivery up 8.07% to Rs 9,228/barrel. WTI & Brent crude also rise sharply.

New Delhi, Apr 2 (PTI) Crude oil prices on Thursday rose Rs 689 to Rs 9,228 per barrel in futures trade as the escalating West Asia conflict is driving severe energy supply disruptions.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for May delivery traded higher by Rs 689, or 8.07 per cent, at Rs 9,228 per barrel in 5,930 lots.
Analysts said the rise in bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in the futures market.
Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude was trading 8.23 per cent higher at USD 108.53 per barrel, while Brent crude rose 7.99 per cent to USD 109.24 per barrel in New York.
