New Delhi, Mar 18 (PTI) The Delhi government will disburse EV purchase subsidies to 12,877 beneficiaries whose verification process has been completed, transport minister Pankaj Singh said on Wednesday.

According to officials, an amount of Rs 24.04 crore will be disbursed to the beneficiaries under the existing Electric Vehicle Policy.

"The department has completed Aadhaar seeding work, making them eligible for subsidy disbursement amounting to Rs 24.04 crore, these applications were pending since the previous government," Singh said.

He also informed that the 'Delhi EV Incentive Portal' is currently being upgraded and streamlined, and it will soon be re-launched by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

"Delhi government has revamped the Delhi EV incentive portal. All eligible beneficiaries with pending verification will be processed on priority to ensure timely subsidy disbursal," Singh added.

The transport minister said that the previous government failed to give adequate priority to electric mobility and pollution reduction, resulting in delays in the disbursement of incentives meant for EV buyers.

"Present government has taken the matter seriously and has initiated concrete steps to release the pending subsidies in a transparent and time-bound manner. As per data available on the Delhi EV Incentive Portal, a total of 22,733 EV subsidy claims were pending," the transport department added.

After de-duplication and Aadhaar validation of beneficiary records, 16,892 individual buyer cases were pushed to the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) platform for Aadhaar-based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Out of these, 12,877 individual beneficiaries have completed Aadhaar seeding, making them eligible for subsidy disbursement amounting to Rs 24.04 crore.

"The remaining 4,015 cases (approximately Rs 7.25 crore) have been re-uploaded on the PFMS platform and are currently undergoing Aadhaar verification," a statement added.

Singh further said the transport department has strengthened the subsidy disbursement mechanism by migrating the system to the PFMS-based Direct Benefit Transfer platform to ensure transparency and efficiency.
