Eicher Motors Gets Rs 1.64 Cr Customs Duty Demand, Penalty
New Delhi, Jun 4 (PTI) Eicher Motors on Thursday said it has received a customs duty demand order along with penalty amounting to Rs 1.64 crore from the West Bengal tax authorities.

The demand relates to the preferential tariff exemption claimed by the company on the import of goods for one shipment during 2020.


Eicher Motors said it is "evaluating all options, including filing an appeal against the order" received on June 3 from the Principal Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), Kolkata, West Bengal.

In a regulatory filing, the company said, "A demand order is received over an email on 3.06.2026 for an aggregate amount of Rs 1.64 crore (which includes demand of duty amounting to Rs 0.82 crore under Section 28(4) of the Customs Act, 1962 and Penalty of Rs. 0.82 Crore under Section 114A of the Customs Act, 1962)."
