Kolkata, Aug 25 (PTI) FMCG major Emami Ltd expects consolidated revenue from its strategic investments portfolio to nearly quadruple to around 25 per cent of consolidated turnover by FY'30 from about 6 per cent in FY26, riding on a revival in rural demand and continued urban premiumisation, a top official said on Tuesday.

The strategic investments portfolio comprises stakes in newer, mostly founder-led consumer brands acquired over the past few years.

Addressing shareholders at Emami's 43rd AGM, the company's Non-Executive Chairman R S Goenka said the strategic investments portfolio, built through stakes in brands such as The Man Company, Brillare, Axiom Ayurveda and IncNut Digital, is projected to contribute around 16 per cent of turnover in the current fiscal itself, up from 6 per cent in FY26.

"As rural purchasing power recovers and GST rationalisation widens access to organised categories, we believe Emami is structurally positioned to capture a disproportionate share of that recovery," Goenka said, adding that a favourable monsoon and improving agricultural output were reviving a rural market that had lagged urban consumption for several years.

He said the urban premiumisation curve continued to work in the company's favour, with rising aspirations, a growing focus on wellness, rapid digital adoption and increasing demand for trusted brands opening up further opportunities.

On the ongoing digital transformation, Goenka said three initiatives -- Project SETU for supply chain planning, SalesCode.

AI for field force productivity and an Analytics Hub for AI-driven decision-making -- were on track for completion within the current financial year, with digital media now accounting for more than half of the company's total above-the-line advertising investments.

Emami has begun FY27 on a strong note, with consolidated revenue for the first quarter growing 15 per cent to Rs 1,039 crore and the domestic business growing 20 per cent, he said, even as higher crude oil prices and packaging cost inflation weighed on gross margins.

He said the company's international business, spanning over 70 countries, is expected to recover further after full-year growth moderated to 3 per cent in FY26 following disruptions from the escalation of the West Asia conflict, with the company remaining confident of long-term potential in Bangladesh, the Middle East and Africa.

"We enter this next chapter as a company that is more diversified, more digitally capable, financially stronger and more disciplined than at any point in our history," Goenka said.
