Mahindra Group CEO responds to PM Modi's call for fuel preservation, energy security, responsible consumption, and sustainability.

New Delhi, May 11 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for greater awareness and collective action towards fuel preservation and energy security underscores the importance of responsible consumption and long-term sustainability, Mahindra Group CEO & MD Anish Shah said on Monday.
Welcoming the move, Shah said, "For India, this is also an opportunity to accelerate the transition towards cleaner, more efficient energy systems."
At a time when the world is navigating heightened energy volatility, these measures underscore the importance of responsible consumption and long-term sustainability, he added.
Prime Minister Modi on Sunday suggested reducing petrol and diesel consumption, using Metro rail services in cities, carpooling, increased use of electric vehicles, utilising railway services for parcel movement and working from home to conserve the country's foreign exchange reserves amid the global supply chain disruptions due to the West Asia war. Modi also appealed to the people of the country to postpone the purchase of gold and foreign travel for a year.
As a group with a strong presence across mobility, energy, and sustainability, he said, "Mahindra remains committed to advancing electrification, investing in renewable energy solutions, and driving innovations that reduce dependence on fossil fuels".
Shah further said, "We believe that meaningful progress will come from a collaborative effort across government, industry, and citizens to build a more resilient and energy-secure future for the country."
