Godrej Capital aims for 30% AUM growth to Rs 38,000 crore in FY27. Expansion plans, wealth management foray, and IPO in 5 years.
Mumbai, Jun 2 (PTI) Non-banking lender Godrej Capital is targeting a 30 per cent jump in assets under management (AUM) to Rs 38,000 crore by the end of the current financial year, a top official said on Tuesday.
The financial services arm of Godrej Group announced a foray into the wealth management business on Tuesday.
The group also plans to take the business public in the next five years.
"On the lending business, our goal is to grow this (AUM) to Rs 100,000 crore over the next five years. Immediately, our goal is to get Rs 38,000 crore at the end of this year," Manish Shah, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Godrej Capital told PTI in an interview.
The company, which operates lending businesses through Godrej Housing Finance and Godrej Finance, ended FY26 with nearly Rs 28,000 crore in AUM and expects to clock over 30 per cent growth in the current financial year.
"Our immediate goal is to reach Rs 38,000 crore by the end of this year on the lending side," Shah said.
Godrej Capital plans to scale its lending business to Rs 1 lakh crore AUM over the next five years before tapping the capital markets.
"From a public market readiness perspective, institutions and investors want a certain scale. We believe the range of Rs 1 lakh crore is an appropriate scale," Shah said.
Apart from scale, the company is also looking to demonstrate sustained growth, portfolio quality and resilience across business cycles before pursuing a listing.
Investors typically seek comfort from firms that have operated through economic cycles over a period of 5-10 years, he added.
The company on Tuesday also launched its wealth management business and has set a target of Rs 1 lakh crore in businesses over the next five years. The wealth business, which is starting from scratch, will initially focus on eight key cities before expanding to 35 locations over the next three years.
The business will primarily cater to clients with investable assets of Rs 2 crore and above, including entrepreneurs, new-age wealth creators, multi-generational business families, NRIs, and sophisticated investors with multi-asset needs.
Godrej Wealth will operate alongside Godrej Capital, the Group's lending business, together forming the financial services arm of the Godrej Industries Group.
On the lending side, Shah said growth is expected to be driven by expansion into new geographies, product launches and a deeper push into affordable housing finance. Godrej Capital plans to expand from over 100 locations to more than 200 this year and launch three new lines of business, including supply chain finance and gold loans.
The company expects 90 per cent of growth to come from existing businesses expanding in existing and new locations, while new business lines are likely to contribute around 10 per cent.
