Gold prices in India surged on Tuesday, fueled by strong spot demand and increased investor interest. Global gold futures also rose, indicating a positive trend in the market.

New Delhi, Oct 22 (PTI) Gold prices on Tuesday increased Rs 279 to Rs 78,318 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created positions on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for December delivery traded higher by Rs 279 or 0.36 per cent at Rs 78,318 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 14,924 lots.

Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in gold prices, analysts said.

Globally, gold futures rose 0.58 per cent to USD 2,735.50 per ounce in New York. PTI DR
