Haryana CM Reviews Horticulture Insurance Scheme

Chandigarh, Apr 2 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said strengthening the horticulture sector is a priority for the state government as he reviewed the implementation of the Mukhyamantri Bagwani Beema Yojana (MBBY).

Chairing a meeting here, the chief minister said the scheme provides financial security to farmers against losses to horticulture crops due to natural disasters. He directed officials to ensure wide publicity of the scheme so that more farmers can benefit from it.


Saini said compensation is provided under the scheme for 46 horticulture crops, including 23 vegetables, 21 fruits and two spice crops. He added that the Budget 2026-“27 proposes to increase the compensation amount.

The chief minister also said that beekeepers will be included under the scheme to provide them financial protection in case of losses.

He asked officials to strengthen monitoring at the ground level to ensure effective implementation and timely benefits to eligible farmers.
