Haryana ministers review Rabi crop procurement arrangements in Yamunanagar & Jhajjar. Focus on MSP, timely payments, & farmer facilities.

Chandigarh, Apr 2 (PTI) Haryana Ministers Rajesh Nagar and Shyam Singh Rana on Thursday inspected grain markets and procurement centres in Yamunanagar and Jhajjar to review the state's preparations for Rabi crop procurement.
Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Rajesh Nagar inspected grain markets and procurement centres in Jhajjar as well as Asaudha.
While, Haryana Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana visited the Saraswati Nagar grain market in Yamunanagar.
During the visit, Nagar interacted with farmers and commission agents and assured them that the government is committed to protecting their interests.
He said no farmer should face any difficulty in selling crops and added that the government aims to ensure the timely procurement of every grain at the minimum support price (MSP) in a transparent and efficient manner.
Nagar said the MSP has been fixed at Rs 2,585 per quintal for wheat and Rs 6,200 per quintal for mustard this season.
He stressed that timely payment to farmers is a top priority and directed officials to ensure that payments are made directly into farmers' bank accounts without delay.
The minister also reviewed basic facilities in mandis, including cleanliness, sheds, drinking water, toilets, CCTV surveillance, weighing systems, biometric devices, availability of gunny bags and lifting of crops.
He asked officials to maintain proper arrangements to avoid inconvenience to farmers.
Meanwhile, Rana directed officials of the Market Committee and procurement agencies to ensure the quick lifting of procured wheat from the mandi.
Rana assured farmers that every grain of their produce will be purchased at MSP and no farmer will face any difficulty in selling crops.
He said the state government, under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, is closely monitoring wheat procurement, with ministers and MLAs inspecting mandis across the state.
He appealed to farmers to bring properly dried crops and asked farmers and commission agents to work with the administration to avoid any issues.
The minister also directed officials to ensure basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, cleanliness and electricity in mandis, and to make proper arrangements for the timely lifting of wheat.
