New Delhi, June 3 (PTI) The Centre is organising a national workshop on June 5-6 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, in order to boost the country's seafood exports from the current Rs 73,890.46 crore achieved in the 2025-26 fiscal.

The workshop, organised jointly by the Union Commerce and Fisheries Ministries, will be graced by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Rajivan Ranjan Singh, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Chirag Paswan, S P Singh Baghel and George Kurian.

"Despite prevailing tariff and non-tariff barriers in key international markets, India's seafood exports have continued to demonstrate strong growth and resilience, supported by government initiatives and policy interventions," the Fisheries Ministry said in a statement.

India's marine product exports have reached a record level of Rs 73,890.46 crore in the 2025–26 fiscal , with export volumes of 19.72 lakh tonnes. The sector has set an ambitious target of achieving Rs 1 lakh crore in exports.

The workshop is expected to further support this growth momentum by strengthening stakeholder capabilities, promoting best practices, and enhancing overall export readiness, thereby contributing to the achievement of this ambitious target, the ministry added.

The technical sessions will aim at identifying state-specific export strategies, outlining an indicative roadmap for value addition and traceability, and formulating recommendations on enabling regulatory and infrastructure measures.

The workshop will also explore pathways for greater integration of start-ups and MSMEs into the export ecosystem, with a view to strengthening India's overall competitiveness in global seafood markets.

Key national organisations such as Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), Export Inspection Council(EIC), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL), Small Farmers' Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED), and Invest India will also be present.

Seafood exporters and industry stakeholders, start-ups and other value chain participants, will also join the workshop.
