New Delhi, Apr 21 (PTI) Bengaluru-based realty firm Sattva Group has partnered with Knowledge Realty Trust and rePurpose Global to address the challenge of plastic waste along Karnataka's 320 km coastline.

Knowledge Realty Trust (KRT) is a real estate investment trust (REIT) sponsored by Sattva Group and global investment firm Blackstone.

According to a statement on Tuesday, Sattva Group, in partnership with Knowledge Realty Trust and rePurpose Global, has launched the 'Karnataka Zero Waste Initiative', which would focus on building community-led waste management systems across the state's coastline.

The initiative, which will run for three years, aims to tackle the growing challenge of plastic waste along Karnataka's 320 Km coastline, where plastic accounts for 60 per cent of coastal litter.

The programme will integrate 50 coastal villages into formal waste management systems, besides supporting 200 waste workers.

Shivam Agarwal, Vice President, Strategy, Sattva Group, said: "The coastline is a vital ecological and economic asset, and improving its condition has a direct impact on local livelihoods and communities."

Sattva Group has delivered 80 million sq ft so far, with another 100 million sq ft in various stages of planning and development.
