New Delhi, Jul 13 (PTI) A record 30 tonnes of fresh and premium pineapples from Meghalaya were sold during a three-day festival organised at 'Dilli Haat' in the national capital, the state government said on Monday.

State Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma thanked the people of Delhi for their overwhelming response to the 4th Meghalaya Pineapple festival that concluded on Sunday.

This year's festival saw sale of 30 tonnes of fresh Meghalaya pineapples, nearly doubling the 15.4 tonnes sold during the previous edition in 2025 and 7.7 tonnes in the first edition in 2023, the state government said in a statement.

This reflects the growing consumer demand for Meghalaya's premium pineapples, renowned for their exceptional sweetness, rich aroma and low acidity, while also demonstrating the success of the state's sustained efforts to build stronger market linkages for its farmers.

The festival, organised by the Meghalaya government, has evolved into the state's flagship platform for connecting farmers directly with organised retailers, food processors, exporters, hospitality businesses and consumers.
