Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav invites Gujarat businesses to invest, citing a crime-free environment, surplus electricity, and good roads. MP received Rs 8,635 cr proposals.
Ahmedabad, Aug 12 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday invited business leaders from Gujarat to invest in his home state across various sectors, citing a "crime-free environment", surplus electricity, and good road connectivity.

He said investment proposals of Rs 8,635 crore have been received from Gujarat, which are expected to create 5,785 employment opportunities.

"I have come among you with an invitation from Madhya Pradesh to expand trade and business in all sectors," Yadav said at an interactive session on investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh.

He said Gujarat has investment potential in sectors, including petrochemicals, chemicals, textiles, pharmaceuticals and energy, among others.

"In Madhya Pradesh, regarding cotton production as well as textile manufacturing, the foundation stone for the largest textile park, the 'PM MITRA Park,' was recently laid in Dhar district, on the Gujarat border," he said.

Yadav added that Madhya Pradesh has surplus electricity, good road connectivity and an environment similar to Gujarat, along with a "completely crime-free environment".

He claimed investors are receiving sufficient encouragement across all sectors, and the MP government is receiving support from various places because of its business policies.

"There are favourable conditions in Madhya Pradesh in every sector," Yadav said.

Stressing that tourism is as important as religious tourism, Yadav said the IT sector is equally important.

"In every possible avenue of development, including real estate, the Madhya Pradesh government has created two metropolitan regions- Indore-Ujjain Metropolitan Region covering six districts, and another metropolitan region comprising Bhopal and six surrounding districts.

"In particular, in sectors such as green energy, semiconductors, renewable energy, pumped hydro and biomass, we have made the path for investment much easier on the strength of our new policies," Yadav said.

Earlier on Wednesday, a delegation led by Yadav discussed trade and business opportunities in Madhya Pradesh with more than 500 business leaders in Ahmedabad.

"We met over 500 business and corporate leaders and discussed trade and business opportunities in MP. We have received investment proposals worth Rs 8,635 crore from Gujarat, which are expected to create 5,785 employment opportunities," Yadav said.

The delegation also held more than 15 one-to-one meetings with business leaders to discuss investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh, he added.

Arvind Ltd has proposed an investment of around Rs 1,200 crore in the PM MITRA Park, for which the company has been allotted 105 acres of land, according to an official release.

To strengthen the state's long-term electricity supply and baseload capacity, Torrent Power is setting up a 1,600-MW ultra-supercritical thermal power project in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh, it said.

The Torrent Power project involves an investment of around Rs 22,000 crore and is expected to generate around 7,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, the release said.
