Nepal and India held discussions in Kathmandu to strengthen energy cooperation, focusing on cross-border electricity trade, hydropower development, and regional energy security.
Kathmandu, Jul 14 (PTI) Nepal and India on Tuesday held meetings with a focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, with emphasis on cross-border electricity trade, officials said.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, held a productive discussion with Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal and Additional Foreign Secretary Munu Mahawar of the Government of India in Kathmandu on Tuesday.


The discussions focused on strengthening Nepal–India cooperation in the energy sector, with particular emphasis on cross-border electricity trade, transmission connectivity, hydropower development, and regional energy security, according to the Secretariat of Shrestha.

On the occasion, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral collaboration for mutual prosperity and sustainable energy development.
