Parliament Dysfunction: Piyush Goyal Blames Opposition

New Delhi, Nov 28 (PTI) Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday said it was "unfortunate" that Opposition parties were not letting Parliament function and are trying to defame India abroad, while neglecting all the reforms and initiatives taken by the Modi government in last ten years.

Both Houses of Parliament -- Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha -- were not able to carry substantial business during the first three days of the Winter Session amid Opposition protests on various issues, including alleged corruption charges against the Adani Group.

Addressing a press conference here, Commerce and Industry Minister Goyal outlined various initiatives taken by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government in the last ten years, including Make in India, Digital India, power sector reforms, among several other measures.

He said it is "unfortunate" that the Opposition, while neglecting all the work done by the Modi-led NDA government, keeps defaming the country whether at home or abroad, and also does not even let the Parliament function.

The minister said the days of "negative" thinking are over and now an aspirational young India is moving ahead at a fast pace.
