Punjab Wheat Procurement: Arrangements in Place
Chandigarh, Mar 31 (PTI) Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Tuesday said that necessary arrangements are in place for wheat procurement, starting from April 1.

Addressing the media here, Kataruchak said as part of the arrangements, 1,897 procurement centres have been set up. Besides, 266 temporary yards have also been set up for crop procurement.

He said the crop will be procured at the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 2,585 per quintal.


Kataruchak further said the state has received the Cash Credit Limit (CCL) to the tune of Rs 30,973 crore for the month of April.

The state has received the target of procuring 122 lakh MT, while his department made comprehensive preparations for procuring 132 lakh MT, said the minister.

Kataruchak further said strict vigilance will be maintained at inter-state borders to ensure wheat from outside the state is not sold in grain markets here.
