Rajasthan CM, Governor Push Natural Farming & Eco-Friendly Ag

Jaipur, Jun 12 (PTI) Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Friday urged farmers to adopt natural farming practices and reduce the use of chemical pesticides to ensure environmental sustainability.

They were addressing a state-level natural farming workshop and Mallakhamb demonstration organised at Sawai Man Singh Indoor Stadium here.

Bagde called upon farmers to produce chemical-free grains and contribute towards protecting people from serious diseases. He said farmers have historically played a crucial role in ensuring food security and should now focus on producing quality food grains.

Sharma said natural farming methods such as Panchgavya, Jeevamrit, Beejamrit and mulching help maintain the health of both soil and humans, and stressed the need to promote these practices. He added that excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides harms the environment and soil health.

The Chief Minister emphasised the state government has prepared a roadmap to ensure water and energy availability for farmers, highlighting projects such as the Ramjal Setu Link Project, Yamuna water agreement, and strengthening of IGNP and Gang Canal systems, along with work on Mahi, Dewas and other river projects.


He said efforts are also underway to make Rajasthan self-reliant in the energy sector, adding that the government is moving towards providing daytime electricity to farmers across the state by 2027, with 26 districts already covered under the initiative.

Sharma said the "double engine" government is committed to making agriculture profitable and eco-friendly, adding that a financial incentive of Rs 30,000 is being given for traditional and natural farming using bullocks.

Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat said excessive chemical farming has reduced soil organic carbon levels to an alarming level across the country. He emphasised that natural farming improves soil fertility and can increase production.

BJP state president Madan Rathore said the use of pesticides is contributing to serious diseases like cancer and urged farmers to use natural fertilisers to provide nutritious food.

BJP Kisan Morcha state president Kailash Choudhary said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister, efforts are being made to promote natural farming and enhance farmers' income.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Choudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa and several public representatives and farmers were also present at the event, where an exhibition and cultural performances on natural farming were organised.
