Rajasthan Govt Focuses on Farmers' Welfare

Jaipur, Apr 7 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Tuesday said the state government is continuously working for farmers' welfare and Rajasthan is scaling new heights in agriculture.

Addressing the inauguration session of a conference here, Sharma said the "double-engine" government in the state is committed to strengthening the farming sector.

"Our government is working continuously in the interest of farmers. We have prepared the 'Developed Rajasthan 2047' roadmap with crop-wise targets," he said.

The chief minister said the state has increased the agriculture budget by 34 per cent, allocating Rs 1,19,408 crore for 2026-27.

He added that Rajasthan ranks first in the country in the production of crops such as bajra, mustard and isabgol, and efforts are being made to enhance farmers' income through processing units. Emphasis is also being laid on increasing milk production, he said.


"Rajasthan is touching new heights in agriculture," Sharma said.

According to an official statement, the chief minister stressed the need for farmers to adopt scientific methods instead of traditional practices to make agriculture more profitable than jobs or businesses.

He urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural techniques, including sprinkler irrigation systems, and diversify into modern crops along with traditional ones.

Expressing concern over the excessive use of chemical fertilisers, Sharma appealed to farmers to use fertilisers as per soil health cards to maintain soil fertility for future generations.

He also emphasised integrating agriculture with animal husbandry to promote the use of natural manure, reduce input costs and increase farmers' income.

Highlighting his government's performance, Sharma said it has delivered more work compared to the previous government.
