Sanjay Lohiya assumes charge as Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), overseeing banking, insurance, and pension sectors.
New Delhi, Jun 1 (PTI) Sanjay Lohiya on Monday assumed charge of the Secretary Department of Financial Services, which administers various Acts related to the banking, insurance and pension sectors.
Lohiya, an IAS of the 1994 batch officer, was serving as Special Secretary in the Department, the DFS said in a post on X.
He succeeds M Nagaraju, who superannuated on May 31.
Before joining the Department of Financial Services (DFS), he was an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Mines.
During his stint in the Ministry of Mines, he implemented a number of far-reaching reforms in the sector.
The reforms focus on expediting exploration coverage, promoting the private sector in exploration, fast-tracking the auction of mineral concessions and promoting ease of doing business in the mining sector.
He also served as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Assam.
