SECL: Women Train as HEMM Operators in Chhattisgarh Mines

SECL launches a first-of-its-kind program in Korba, Chhattisgarh, training 19 women employees to operate Heavy Earth Moving Machines (HEMM) for mining operations.
Korba, Jul 18 (PTI) State-owned South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) has launched a first-of-its-kind programme to train women employees as Heavy Earth Moving Machine (HEMM) operators in Chhattisgarh's Korba district.




The 12-day training programme, being held from July 6 to 18, is being attended by 19 women employees selected from different areas, an SECL official said on Saturday.

The participants are being taught operation of heavy mining equipment, including dumpers and shovels, by experienced operators, and on completion of the training they will be deployed as regular HEMM operators in SECL mines, the official said.
