Silver prices climb to Rs 2.79 lakh per kg in futures trade. MCX silver for July delivery up 0.27%. Fresh positions cited as reason.

New Delhi, May 12 (PTI) Silver prices rose 0.27 per cent to Rs 2.79 lakh per kg in the futures trade on Tuesday amid West Asia crisis.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, the white metal for July delivery increased by Rs 751, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 2,79,062 per kilogram in a business turnover of 4,350 lots.
Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in silver prices, analysts said.
In the overseas market, Comex silver futures decreased 0.91 per cent to USD 85.27 per ounce.
