Silver Futures Surge on Strong Spot Demand

Silver prices jumped on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) due to increased spot demand and positive domestic trends. Global silver prices also rose.
New Delhi, Sep 19 (PTI) Silver prices on Thursday jumped Rs 1,759 to Rs 90,058 per kilogram in futures trade as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for December delivery increased Rs 1,759 or 1.99 per cent to Rs 90,058 per kg in 24,975 lots.
Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mainly due to fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend.
Globally, silver was trading 2.57 per cent higher at USD 31.48 per ounce in New York.
