New Delhi, May 13 (PTI) Bharti Airtel has reappointed its founder Sunil Bharti Mittal as the chairman of the board for five years till September 30, 2031, a company filing said on Wednesday.
Mittal's current term as the Chairman was due to expire on September 30.
"We wish to inform you that on the recommendation of HR & Nomination Committee, the Board of Directors of the company...has approved...reappointment of Sunil Bharti Mittal as the Chairman of the company for a further term of five consecutive years w.e.f. October 01, 2026," the filing said.
Mittal founded Bharti Group in 1976. The group has grown since then to multiple segments, including telecom, space communications, digital infrastructure, financial services, etc.
"Sunil Bharti Mittal has been reappointed by the Board as Chairman for a further term of five years, i.e. from October 01, 2026, to September 30, 2031, subject to approval of the members," the filing said.
The board also approved the reappointment of Nisaba Godrej as an independent director for a second term of five years, from August 4, 2026, to August 03, 2031, subject to approval of the members.
