Thane, Jul 25 (PTI) The Thane District Central Co-operative (TDCC) Bank has doubled the maximum loan limit for women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to Rs 20 lakh and relaxed guarantor norms for student loans.
Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, newly-elected TDCC chairman Arun Patil said the decision to double the loan limit to Rs 20 lakh is aimed at making women's self-help groups financially self-reliant.
"The enhanced credit facility will enable eligible groups to scale up their business operations, foster self-employment, and significantly boost income generation across rural and urban pockets of both districts," Patil said.
He said the board of directors has approved a key relaxation in the bank's education loan scheme designed to ease the administrative burden on parents and students.
"Considering the challenges faced by students and parents, the board has revised the guarantor criteria. Instead of requiring two guarantors, the bank will now process education loans with just one capable guarantor, making the sanctioning procedure far smoother, more accessible, and customer-centric," Patil added.
The bank has cumulatively disbursed loans worth Rs 2,771 crore to the sugar sector, generating an impressive interest income of Rs 670.46 crore to date.
