Tripura government and National Stock Exchange sign MoUs to boost financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and economic development, empowering youth and MSMEs.
Agartala, Jul 28 (PTI) The National Stock Exchange on Tuesday signed MoUs with a government training institute in Tripura and its Industries & Commerce and Skill Development departments to boost financial literacy and entrepreneurship in the state, officials said.
Chief Minister Manik Saha, Industries & Commerce Minister Santana Chakma and NSE Chief Regulatory Officer Ankit Sharma were among those present at the MoU signing ceremony here, they said.
In a social media post, Saha said, "Tripura signs landmark agreements with National Stock Exchange for opening a new era of economic development through access to capital markets."
"Today, three landmark MoUs were signed between the Government of Tripura and the National Stock Exchange, marking a significant step towards strengthening financial literacy, skill development and entrepreneurship in the state," he said.
Saha said these strategic partnerships will empower the youth, support MSMEs, enhance the capacity of government officials and promote a vibrant investment ecosystem.
"With this initiative, SIPARD has become one of the first government training institutes in India to establish such a strategic partnership with NSE, setting a benchmark for institutional collaboration in capacity building and financial education. Together, we are building a financially aware, skilled and future-ready Tripura," the CM asserted.
Later, speaking to reporters, Saha said the state has several public sector undertakings (PSUs) that can raise funds through the stock market.
"Our PSUs depend on the government's budgetary allocation, which often falls short to undertake major initiatives. It will be better if these PSUs could raise funds through the capital market to implement their projects," he said.
Chief Secretary J K Sinha said the northeastern state received a "massive response" during the recently concluded 'Destination Tripura' business summit, "where 466 MoUs with investment proposals of Rs 1.29 lakh crore were signed".
