x
A CareEdge report highlights the need for climate-resilient, tech-enabled, and sustainable infrastructure to achieve Viksit Bharat 2047, emphasizing integrated development.
Key Points
- Viksit Bharat 2047 demands future-ready, climate-resilient, and sustainable infrastructure, according to a CareEdge report.
- The report, released by Gautam Adani, highlights a shift towards integrated infrastructure ecosystems for India's development.
- India's infrastructure journey is focusing on integration, resilience, efficiency, and effective asset utilization.
- Significant government capital expenditure is driving growth, attracting private investment, and creating a multiplier effect.
- Infrastructure is now recognized as a critical foundation for sustainable and inclusive growth towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
The ratings agency in its report titled "Infrastructure Landscapes-Vision for Viksit Bharat" said India will need cities that are productive and liveable, transport systems that are clean and efficient, energy network that is secure and green, globally competitive logistics chains, and digital systems that make governance seamless.
The report was released by Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani at the CareEdge Conversion held in Mumbai on Monday.
It also said India's infrastructure journey is entering a defining phase, with the next stage of development shifting from capacity creation to integration, resilience, efficiency and effective asset utilisation.
"I would like to place a challenge before the CareEdge team. Why should the world's first truly comprehensive credit framework for integrated platform infrastructure not come from India? Why should CareEdge not lead it? Develop a framework capable of evaluating multi-dimensional infrastructure... a framework that recognises ecosystem multipliers. A framework that recognises adjacency value," Adani said in his address at the CareEdge annual summit here.
"And perhaps, one day, emerging economies around the world will use a framework developed here in India as their benchmark," he said.
The report assesses the evolving landscape across power, renewable energy, solar manufacturing, smart metering, transmission, nuclear power, data centres, roads, ports, airports, and infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs), highlighting the opportunities and key monitorables that will shape India's infrastructure trajectory towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
It highlights that the emphasis has shifted from isolated projects to integrated infrastructure ecosystems, where multimodal connectivity, logistics efficiency, energy security, sustainability and citizen convenience are planned together.
The Centre's capital expenditure on key infrastructure sectors stood at nearly Rs 38 lakh crore from FY22 to FY26, while the Union Budget 2026-27 earmarked Rs 12.20 lakh crore on capital expenditure, equivalent to 3.1 per cent of GDP, the report stated.
"The scale of India's public investment reflects the determination of building an infrastructure ecosystem. The Union government's... sustained capex push has created a multiplier effect across various sectors, services, employment, and regional development," said Mehul Pandya, Managing Director and Group CEO, CareEdge, said.
He further said it has also strengthened India's capacity to attract private investment by improving project visibility, reducing execution risks, and expanding monetisation opportunities.
"India is on track to make integrated infrastructure initiatives its competitive advantage," Pandya added.
As the country progresses through Amrit Kaal towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, infrastructure is no longer seen merely as a driver of economic activity, but as a critical foundation for sustainable, inclusive, and resilient growth, said Revati Kasture, Executive Director, CareEdge Ratings.
