Zinc prices fell nearly 1% to Rs 316.25/kg in futures trading due to bearish sentiment and weak global trends. LME zinc also declined.
New Delhi, Mar 18 (PTI) Zinc prices dipped nearly 1 per cent to Rs 316.25 per kilogram in futures trade on Wednesday due to bearish sentiment in the domestic market amid weak global trends.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), zinc for March delivery dipped by Rs 3.05, or 0.96 per cent, to Rs 316.25 per kilogram in a business turnover of 2,227 lots.

Similarly, the April contract also went lower by Rs 3.25, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 319.25 per kg in 2,088 lots.

Analysts said zinc prices were under pressure amid cautious sentiment and a lack of strong demand signals in the industrial metals segment.

In the overseas trade, Zinc futures on the London Metals Exchange (LME) declined by USD 38.55, or 1.19 per cent, to USD 3,193.10 per metric tonnes.

According to analysts, the weakness in prices to negative global cues and ongoing macroeconomic uncertainties, which have weighed on base metals.
