Kochi, Jan 31 (PTI) India's top shipyard, Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), announced on Wednesday that it has secured a significant international contract from a European client.
The deal involves building hybrid Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) for the offshore wind renewables market, with an option for an additional vessel.
While specific details about the client and the contract value were not disclosed, the CSL emphasised that this contract further solidifies its presence in the global renewable energy sector, focusing on sustainable solutions.
In a statement, the CSL also mentioned its ongoing project of constructing two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) for another European client.
The company highlighted the increasing global attention towards sustainable energy solutions, particularly in offshore renewables, where SOVs play a crucial role.
These vessels, known for their versatility and efficiency in supporting offshore operations, underscore CSL's expertise in the offshore support vessel domain.
"These SOVs are designed by VARD AS, Norway, and built for the service, maintenance, and operational needs of the offshore wind industry. The vessels are equipped with a fully electric cycloidal propulsion system, 3D motion compensated gangway system (walk2work) and a 3D crane which forms the mission equipment," the statement said.
It said the vessels are to be classed with DNV 'Clean Design' and latest 'Cyber Secure' Notations.
The hybrid electric propulsion system is powered by 3x1300 ekW diesel generator set along with a large Lithium battery pack, to achieve emission reduction to a large extent, it added.
