Dish TV Watcho Partners with Cloud Walker for Smart TV Expansion

New Delhi, Mar 20 (PTI) DTH service provider Dish TV on Thursday said its OTT platform Watcho has partnered with Cloud Walker's Cloud TV OS to expand its subscriber base through smart TVs and enhance user experience.

Under the collaboration, Watcho's content library will be deeply integrated into Cloud TV OS, making it available across over 200 TV brands and reaching an expanding audience of over 18 million users across more than 6 million devices, the company said.

"The TV ecosystem is increasingly dominated by connected televisions. The experience is dominated by connected television, and more and more as we go along in India, all the new television sets are going to be smart TVs, and they are going to be connected.

"Even the installed base of television is going to get more and more connected," Dish TV Chief Revenue Officer Sukhpreet Singh told PTI on the rationale behind the partnership.

"There will be replacement of old televisions with the new television as well. So, from a business point of view, we want to be there on every television..."

All smart TVs with the Cloud TV OS will have a very deeply integrated content platform, which is Dish TV Watcho, Singh added.

Cloud TV OS has a huge subscriber base running into millions, he noted.

The partnership "will definitely help us to get new subscribers who are getting into smart television, who are replacing their television", Singh said, adding that even for the installed base of non-smart TV, Dish TV already has solutions like Android boxes and hybrid boxes.

"With this, we cover every territory," he noted.

The company said the partnership eliminates the hassle of multiple logins, allowing Watcho subscribers to sign in once on Cloud TV and start streaming instantly with enhanced engagement and personalised recommendations.

New users can also take advantage of Cloud TV Bundles, which provide exclusive deals on premium entertainment, it said, adding that with a single Watcho subscription, users can access JioHotstar, SonyLIV, and ZEE5 and unlock a world of movies, web series, and live sports across multiple screens.
