Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) reported a significant revenue jump in August, reaching Rs 70 crore, attributed to revenue monitoring, route optimization, and operational efficiency despite monsoon challenges.
Shimla, Sep 1 (PTI) Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) on Sunday said it earned a revenue of Rs 70 crore in August this year, 37.5 per cent higher than Rs 51 crore recorded in the same month a year ago.

The figure was much higher than Rs 58 crore registered in August 2022.

HRTC, in a release, said the big jump is attributed to day-to-day monitoring of revenue targets, regular reviews, route rationalisation and efforts by the corporation to keep operations running despite severe impact of monsoon rains and route disruptions.

The corporation earned Rs 48 crore more in the first five months (April-August) of 2024 compared to the same period of last year.

With this increase in revenue HRTC has been able to make payments to its suppliers of spare parts and diesel on time and meet its salary commitments despite reduced grant from the government, it said.

HRTC said its new ticket management system and inventory management systems have helped hugely in providing ease to commuters and manage cost and the revenue is expected to go as much as Rs 80 crore above last year.
