Silver Futures Rise on Strong Spot Demand

Silver futures prices jumped on the Multi Commodity Exchange due to increased spot demand and a positive domestic trend.
New Delhi, Jan 11 (PTI) Silver prices on Thursday jumped Rs 139 to Rs 72,108 per kilogram in futures trade as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for March delivery increased Rs 139, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 72,108 per kg in 24,956 lots.

Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mainly due to fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend.

Globally, silver was trading 0.30 per cent higher at USD 23.23 per ounce in New York.
