Trent, Bharat Electronics Surge After Sensex Entry

New Delhi, Jun 23 (PTI) Shares of Tata group Trent and state-owned Bharat Electronics jumped on Monday following their entry in the 30-share Sensex.

The stock of Trent jumped 3.61 per cent to settle at Rs 6,120.45 apiece on the BSE. During the day, it surged 5.20 per cent to Rs 6,214.55.

Shares of Bharat Electronics climbed 3.15 per cent to Rs 420.90. Intra-day, the stock surged 3.52 per cent to Rs 422.45.

Asia Index, the benchmarks and market intelligence arm of BSE, last month said that Trent and Bharat Electronics will replace Nestle India and IndusInd Bank in the Sensex.

The changes came into effect from the beginning of trading on June 23.

Meanwhile, in the equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex ended with a loss of 511.38 points or 0.62 per cent at 81,896.79. During the day, it tumbled 931.41 points or 1.13 per cent to 81,476.76.

The 50-share NSE Nifty dropped 140.50 points or 0.56 per cent to 24,971.90.
