Maritime Heritage Complex Construction Progress Reviewed

Sonowal reviews National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) construction in Lothal, targeting July 2026 for Phase 1 completion. Safe passage of India-bound ships discussed.
New Delhi, May 6 (PTI) Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday reviewed the progress of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) being constructed in Lothal and set July 2026 as the target for completing Phase 1 of the project.

The ports, shipping and waterways minister also reviewed the situation in the Gulf region and steps being taken for the safe passage of ships bound for India.

He asked officials to take all necessary steps for the safe passage of India-bound ships.

According to an official statement, during the review, the minister directed officials to accelerate construction activities and ensure the timely completion of critical components, including panels, mural work, ceiling fabrication and flooring.

Sonowal emphasised strict adherence to timelines to operationalise the complex within the stipulated deadline, it added.
