Gold prices fell on Thursday in futures trade as speculators reduced their positions, driven by weak global cues. Gold was trading lower in New York.

New Delhi, May 30 (PTI) Gold prices on Thursday declined Rs 301 to Rs 71,970 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators reduced their positions.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for August delivery traded lower Rs 301 or 0.42 per cent at Rs 71,970 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 16,838 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in gold prices to weak global cues.

Globally, gold was trading 0.42 per cent lower at USD 2,354.20 per ounce in New York.
