PMI Electro Mobility will deliver 250 single-decker AC e-buses to BEST in Mumbai under a GCC model, enhancing connectivity and reducing carbon emissions.
Mumbai, Dec 5 (PTI) Electric commercial vehicle manufacturer PMI Electro Mobility said on Thursday it will supply 250 single-decker air-conditioned e-buses to the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking (BEST) as part of an agreement.
The deliveries of these 12-meter e-buses are to be completed in different lots by the second quarter of FY26, PMI Electro Mobility said in a statement.
These buses will be operated across various routes in Mumbai and its extended suburbs under GCC (gross cost contract) model, thereby enhancing the connectivity within the city limits while significantly reducing the carbon footprint, the company said.
As part of the GCC model, a private operator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a bus service in lieu of a fixed payment while the public authority retains key responsibilities such as fare collection, service planning and management.
Mumbai will be the second city in Maharashtra after Nagpur where 144 electric buses are successfully running, the company said.
This agreement aligns perfectly with the company's vision to lead the transition to electric mobility in the country combined with India's commitment of becoming a net zero nation by 2070, PMI Electro Mobility Solutions Pvt Ltd CEO Aanchal Jain said.
The company said it is running over 1,700 electric buses across 31 cities pan-India.
