Silver prices rose in futures trade on Tuesday, driven by increased spot demand. The rise was attributed to participants building fresh positions on a positive domestic trend.

New Delhi, Jan 30 (PTI) Silver prices on Tuesday rose Rs 170 to Rs 72,547 per kilogram in futures trade as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for March delivery increased Rs 170, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 72,547 per kg in 23,032 lots.

Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mainly due to fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend.

Globally, silver was trading 0.32 per cent higher at USD 23.33 per ounce in New York.
