Silver prices rose in India on Monday, driven by increased spot demand and a positive domestic trend. Global silver prices also saw gains.

New Delhi, Feb 12 (PTI) Silver prices on Monday rose Rs 722 to Rs 71,496 per kilogram in futures trade as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for March delivery increased Rs 722, or 1.02 per cent, to Rs 71,496 per kg in 26,598 lots.

Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mainly due to fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend.

Globally, silver was trading 1.75 per cent higher at USD 22.99 per ounce in New York.
