Lupin Launches Generic Eye Drug in US

Lupin launches generic Loteprednol Etabonate Ophthalmic Suspension in the US market, a bioequivalent to Lotemax, to treat eye inflammation and pain.
New Delhi, Jul 16 (PTI) Drug firm Lupin on Wednesday said it has launched a generic medication to treat inflammation and pain in the eye.
The company has launched Loteprednol Etabonate Ophthalmic Suspension, a bioequivalent to Bausch & Lomb Inc's Lotemax Ophthalmic Suspension, in the US market, the Mumbai-based drug maker said in a statement.
Loteprednol Etabonate Ophthalmic Suspension, 0.5 per cent, is a steroid medication used to treat inflammation and pain in the eye, particularly after surgery or due to conditions like allergic conjunctivitis.
It is also indicated for the treatment of post-operative inflammation following ocular surgery.
As per the IQVIA MAT May 2025 data, Loteprednol Etabonate Ophthalmic Suspension had estimated annual sales of USD 55 million in the US.
Lupin shares on Wednesday ended 1.04 per cent down at Rs 1,931.10 apiece on BSE.
