Nagaland govt & QCI signed an MoU to enhance quality standards of MSMEs through ZED & LEAN certifications, boosting manufacturing and agriculture sectors. World MSME Day.
Kohima, Jun 27 (PTI) Nagaland on Friday marked World MSME Day' with the signing of an MoU between the state government and the Quality Council of India (QCI).
The agreement aims to enhance quality standards through ZED' and LEAN' certifications, providing a major boost to manufacturing MSMEs, an official release said.
In his address on the occasion, Agriculture Advisor Mhathung Yanthan underscored the potential of MSMEs, especially in agriculture and horticulture, and stressed the need to improve packaging and localise outreach through workshops, regional translations and facilitation centres at Krishi Vigyan Kendras and District Industries Centres.
Secretary of Industries & Commerce, Kumar Ramnikant, highlighted the key focus areas of the World Bank-supported RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) programme in the state, including capacity building and market access through the Make in Nagaland' initiative.
In India, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are a key pillar of growth, contributing around 30 per cent to the GDP and over 45 per cent to the country's exports, according to government data.
