Silver Futures Surge on Spot Demand: Prices Jump 1.49%

Silver prices rose sharply in futures trading on Wednesday, driven by strong spot demand. The December contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange climbed 1.49% to Rs 84,932 per kg.

New Delhi, Sep 11 (PTI) Silver prices on Wednesday jumped Rs 1,251 to Rs 84,932 per kilogram in futures trade as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for December delivery increased Rs 1,251 or 1.49 per cent to Rs 84,932 per kg in 30,090 lots.

Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mainly due to fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend.

Globally, silver was trading 1.84 per cent higher at USD 29.14 per ounce in New York.
