| Canara Bank has informed BSE that in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (h) of sub-section (3) of section 9 of The Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970/1980, read with sub-clause (1) of clause 3 & clause 5 of the Nationalized Banks (Management and Miscellaneous Provisions) Scheme, 1970/1980, the Central Government, after consultation with the Reserve Bank of India, has appointed Shri Thothala Narayanasamy Manoharan as Part Time Non-Official Director as well as Non-Executive Chairman of the Bank, for a period of three years from the date of notification of his appointment or until further orders, whichever is earlier, vide notification dated August 14, 2015.<BR><BR>The appointment is subject to outcome of Writ Petition (C) No. 445 of 2015 in the Supreme Court in the matter of All India Bank Officers' Confederation Vs Union of India & Others. | |
